James Butterfield
Bio
James Butterfield is a passionate and driven young man from Utah. His top scholarly interest is in mathematics, and he is fascinated by topics such as algebraic and differential topology, as well as more abstract concepts such as mathematical systems and constructions. He began pursuing mathematics at a very young age and excelled rapidly. During elementary school he independently learned calculus, and during junior high he completed upper-level mathematics courses, such as ordinary differential equations, at a local university. He aspires to publish research in peer-reviewed mathematics journals in the future. In his free time, James enjoys alpine skiing and tricking, a freestyle acrobatic field that combines tumbling and martial arts. For work, he teaches tricking and gymnastics to kids aged 4–12.
