Yash Somaiya
Bio
Yash Somaiya is a rising sophomore and elected school prefect at St. Albans School in Washington, DC. As a member of his school's robotics team, Yash and his teammates won the VEX DC Robotics Skills Challenge, sending them to the 2017 VEX Robotics World Championship in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, Yash is a part of his school's It's Academic team, a TV quiz show for high schools in the DC metropolitan area. Yash is very passionate about STEM, and challenges himself whenever he can. He became the first student at St. Albans to take AP Calculus BC as a freshman. Also, in the third grade, he recited 454 digits of π at his school's annual Pi Recital Contest, shattering the school record. In the future, Yash hopes to become a technology entrepreneur. In his free time, he enjoys singing in the Washington National Cathedral with his school's choir, cheering on DC sports teams or playing with his puppy Teddy.
