Bio

Jeffrey Shi is a rising senior at Jamestown High School. He is very passionate about mathematics, science and, more recently, computer science. Since middle school, he has competed in various mathematics competitions, including MATHCOUNTS; now he competes in American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) and the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). Besides mathematics, he loves science, and is the cofounder and co-captain of the Science Olympiad team at his school, which has been very successful in its first two years of competition. Since the summer of 2016, he has been conducting research in graph theory with a mathematics professor at the College of William and Mary. At school and in his free time, he recently began programming with Java and also started working with Mathematica as he pursues his mathematical interests. He is also a member of his school's varsity tennis team and plays the piano and cello. In the future, he hopes to pursue a career in computer science, where he wants to be able to help develop new technology and programs as our world advances toward a technology-centered society.
