Bio

David is a 19-year-old student at San Diego Miramar Community College who started programming at the age of 11, came to love mathematics and physics, and will probably never be satiated in studying them. His current independent studies are in Lagrangian mechanics, real analysis, and basic computational physics. He enjoys writing gratuitously large simulations, coding things involving solutions to interesting physical or mathematical questions (usually numerical solutions), reading top-notch academic books, and playing independent video games.

Project: Particles inside the Reversible Cellular Automata 37R

The goal of this project is to identify the repeating structures and the interactions thereof in the reversible cellular automata 37R, as described on page 440 of the NKS book. To proceed, structures will be identified and classified using automated Mathematica code, and then collided with each other so that the inputs and outputs of each collision can be counted. The data from the many collisions will then be analyzed in order to determine if any conservation laws or interesting patterns emerge.
