Joel Choi graduated from Grinnell College with a bachelors in Physics and Mathematics in 2023 and joined the Wolfram Summer School the same year. He has performed research in studying satellite orbit modification via tether deployment, using C++, Python, and Mathematica to derive the equations of the model, calculate them given some parameters, and visualize it. His main interests lie in studying quantum mechanics, specifically string theory and other ways that our reality starts breaking down when we get into the quantum level. Choi’s goal in WSS is to gain more research experience and build connections that will help him towards his path in earning a PhD in theoretical physics.
In his free time Choi enjoys dancing, drawing digital illustrations, and playing video games. He was one of the founders and teachers in his school hip hop club and has organized gaming tournaments at his school.
