Bio

Douw Marx is a mechanical engineer who, at the time of the Wolfram Summer School, is conducting research in the field of condition-based maintenance at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. Douw is an advocate for a computational approach to problem solving and considers his programming ability to be a key tool for finding innovative solutions to engineering problems. Douw likes to consider alternative solutions to the problems that are considered to be optimally solved. He has developed a novel planar mechanism that is being patented by the University of Pretoria. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, making music and woodworking.
