Bio

Stella majored in mathematics and minored in physics at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in May 2010. Now she is a graduate student of mathematics at New York University. Her research interests are dynamical systems and differential equations.

Project: Pattern Based Approach to Ordinary Differential Equations

The traditional approaches to ordinary differential equations (ODE) are based on the study of phase spaces, poincaré sections, the Lyapunov exponent, and similar concepts. Here we consider new pattern-based methods to investigate ODEs. In particular, we will use wavelets, digits representations, and entropy measures to study subtle transit and chaotic regimes of ODEs.
