Bio

As a rising junior from the International Academy of Macomb, Anish Mahendran enjoys a variety of academic subjects, including math, computer science, physics and biology. He is fluent in Java, C, C++, Python and JavaScript. His research interests include artificial intelligence, genetics and high energy particle physics. His major technological projects are primarily in the field of graphics programming, and he has constructed a graphics engine from scratch using OpenGL. He has taken multiple advanced math courses while in high school, including statistics, calculus and linear algebra, and has also taken courses in electrodynamics and particle physics at Wayne State University. This year he was one of only five students in Michigan to earn a medal in the US Physics Olympiad. He enjoys local and national math competitions as well, such as the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), and he was ranked 43rd in his state last year in the Michigan Math Prize Competition (MMPC). In the future, he hopes to pursue a career in artificial intelligence in order to automate tasks in the fields of medicine and quantitative finance.
