Daria Smyslova

Bio

Daria Smyslova is a doctoral candidate in Learning Design and Technology at North Carolina State University and a Graduate Research Assistant at the William and Ida Friday Institute for Educational Innovation. Her research focuses on AI literacy, learning analytics, and natural language processing (NLP) in K–12 education. She is concurrently pursuing a Master’s in Statistics and holds graduate certificates in Learning Analytics and Instructional Design.

Daria has contributed to multiple interdisciplinary projects, including Integrate AI, StoryQ, and the LASER Institute, where she applies data science and human-centered design to evaluate AI-integrated curricula and learning outcomes. Her work has been presented at international conferences such as ISLS, AERA, and LAK. Previously, she held research and teaching roles at Roche, the Laboratory for Analytic Sciences, and international schools in Russia. A former Fulbright scholar, Daria brings over a decade of experience in language teaching and curriculum design to her research in AI-enhanced education.
