Project: Rule 45: an Exposé

Elementary CA rule 30 is the prototypical random number generator, but there are other cellular automata that produce similar behavior and could perhaps be better random number generators than rule 30. In this project, we will investigate elementary cellular automaton rule 45 and compare its statistical properties to the known properties of rule 30, such as the relative frequencies of blocks of cells of various lengths.
