Bio

Maria Renza is a first-year undergraduate student in cognitive science and artificial intelligence at Tilburg University and was originally from Colombia. She is interested in neuroscience, artificial intelligence, the philosophy of science, mathematics, astronomy and complex systems. Her curiosity is driven by the search for patterns and connections between things that may first appear unrelated and by the challenge of translating broad, complex ideas into simple forms without losing their depth. She is especially drawn to how simple computational rules can generate complex behavior and to how observers extract meaning from systems that may be computationally irreducible. Outside her studies, she enjoys exploring questions about nature, perception and the underlying structures behind natural phenomena.
