Maria Luiza is pursuing a degree in information systems at UFRPE. Her journey in STEM began during her school years through chemistry research projects and academic olympiads, where her proudest achievement was becoming a three-time gold medalist in the Brazilian Astronomy Olympiad. During her undergraduate studies, she discovered cellular automata and developed a strong interest in using these discrete computational models to simulate complex phenomena, specifically in astronomy. Additionally, Maria Luiza enjoys exploring data science and machine learning. As a participant in the Wolfram Summer Research Institute, she looked forward to leveraging Wolfram Language to deepen her knowledge of complex systems and explore new computational research ideas.
