Bio
Jinming is a PhD and incoming postdoc in civil engineering and engineering mechanics from Columbia University. His work combines the boundary element method, multiscale modeling and scientific AI for developing digital twins for particulate composites, layered structures and metamaterials. He is interested in developing ‘learning mechanics’ as a fundamental theory for scientific AI, connecting mechanics-based concepts with data-driven learning, which could lead to something fascinating. He has been recognized as a Mindlin Scholar, Thornton Tomasetti Fellow and Pao Fellow. He also received student paper competition honors from the Dynamics Committee, Multiscale Modeling Committee and Machine Learning in Mechanics Committee at the EMI Conferences in 2024, 2025 and 2026, respectively. Jinming also enjoys swimming, making hotpot for dinner and watching Broadway shows with friends.
