WOLFRAM

Curriculum and Activities

The Wolfram Middle School Summer Camp is an intensive program that focuses on a variety of academic activities. Activities throughout the one-week camp will take place remotely, blending active learning with opportunities to socialize with other students.

Learning Wolfram Language

Attending the camp will give you a fast-paced, engaging introduction to coding in Wolfram Language, as well as computational and design thinking skills. At camp, you will be guided through exercises, coding challenges and a host of mini projects to hone your skills, grow your confidence and solidify your understanding of computer science principles.

Specialist Lectures

Throughout camp, there will be lectures on a variety of topics given by Wolfram Research employees and guests from organizations like Women in Computer Science. These topics could range from natural language processing and computational farming to computational poetry and machine learning with finance data.

Hands-on Challenges

Over the course of the camp, you will engage in plenty of hands-on activities. From solving puzzles using algorithms to finding solutions to the six degrees of Kevin Bacon problem, you will stretch your coding and computational thinking muscles.

Social Activities

Outside of your academic activities, you will have the opportunity to engage in plenty of remote social events, including video game tournaments, special interest discussions, trivia hour and livecoding challenges.

Sample Schedule

Each day at camp will be slightly different, with a higher balance of teaching time at the beginning and increased workshop and activities time as you gain confidence.

The Wolfram Middle School Summer Camp runs during the day in Pacific Time. The first day of the summer camp on July 27 is a half-day, running only from 12pm to 2:30pm.
