Hi, my name is Damjan Skulic. I am an undergrad in biophysics in my third year, and I'm interested in the application of physics and mathematics to biological and chemical problems.
Project: Data Analysis for PubMed Library
The PubMed library is a huge database that is made up of genes, genomes, nucleotides, biological assays, protein clusters, taxonomies, chemical structures, and many other things. This database is mainly used by biologists and chemists to store and look up data. My plan is to upload the PubMed Library using an API to Mathematica and then to use the database resources in Mathematica to analyze the data.
I have a background in biophysics, where I got interested in organic chemistry, which led me to take up this project to analyze data using Mathematica. The Wolfram Language integrates many aspects of statistical data analysis and chemical data analysis, which helps create a dynamic and graphically appealing presentation. My plan is to classify and analyze my data by molecular weight, stoichiometry, compounds, reactive parts, chemical endings, etc.
With this data I plan on making histograms and causalities to show how chemical reactions work and why they take specific groups of molecules to work the way they do. Additionally I will study the properties of metal, alkalines, gases, etc. and their characteristic properties.
