Varun Gyanchandani

Technology & Innovation

Class of 2015

I live in Hyderabad, also known as the City of Nawabs, in India. I have received my master's from Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology in Ahmedabad. My major area was machine intelligence, which included courses like machine learning, pattern recognition, image processing, natural language processing, and computer vision. For my thesis, I worked on 3D texture mapping, which originally used a lot of PCD conversions to meshes, and extracting texture from 2D images to map onto the mesh to make it look more realistic and reduce the time complexity corresponding to the existing techniques. I am currently working at an IT company, and want to learn the real-world problems whose solutions are provided by machine learning.

Project: Calysis

My project Calysis is about giving a detailed analysis of calendar data to users, including meeting charts and timeline plots. It gives flexibility to users to zoom in and out of their calendar's timeline. I have been able to correctly predict the meetings, and those predictions use calculations based on the calendar.
