Wenzhen Zhu is currently pursuing a BA degree in mathematics and computer science at Knox College. (A math major with a CS and physics minor is also possible.) She is also considering transferring to WUSTL to pursue a computer engineering bachelor's degree. She is going to be a junior this fall. She has been taking a wide range of classes, including chemistry, biology, math, physics, and computer science. She was planning to go to medical school, but after two years she found that math and computer science are the fields in which she is most interested. Outside the classroom, she loves playing the guzheng (an ancient Chinese instrument), watching movies, reading ancient Chinese novels, and cooking for her friends.
Project: Recognition and Analysis of 2D Free-Form Graphics
My project will be focusing on reading free-form graphics and transforming them based on the interpretation of what users need.
The features I am trying to implement are as follows:
- Extract drawing primitives (line, circle, etc.)
- Read a free-form input polygon and return a corrected polygon and the output angles
- Join neighboring points
- Recognize geometrical figures (triangles, rectangles, stars, etc.) and interpret what the user wants to draw
- Recognize when lines are parallels
- Reshape the figures
