Originally from Guatemala, Dafne is a junior majoring in mathematics at Saint Leo University in Florida. She plans on getting her BA in mathematics and moving on to a physics-related graduate school program. She has recently become interested in robotics, and she is fascinated by the complexity of the universe; she would love to discover more about its natural patterns. Physics at an extremely small scale and at an extremely large scale are what seem most amazing to her and her main research interests.
Project: Nested Image-Processing Functions
After iteratively applying an image-processing function to a photo, we measured the skew, entropy, energy, and threshold of the output. In addition, we studied the manner in which the color space was transformed by this operation. Thirty-six different image-processing functions were considered, each iterated 100 times on two different photos. We hope to use this data to find interesting connections between image-processing operations and useful operations in other disciplines.
