Jaime Díaz Díaz

Class of 2012

I'm a master's student in computer center research at the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN - CIC) in Mexico. I worked as software developer for seven years before returning to school, looking for answers to questions existing in the enterprise enviroment.

My thesis project refers to cancer development using cellular automata.

My main interests are cellular automata, genetic algorithms, and data mining.

Project: Rule Finder

I'll be working to create a method to identify the rules producing a given frequency of 0s and 1s in the central column of the cellular automaton's lattice. To achieve this, I'll start working with 2 colors and 2 or 3 neighbors' cellular automata. In order to improve the search step, I'll try to implement a genetic algorithm to do the search job.
