Bio

Ben Kelly is a rising junior at Middlesex School in Concord, Massachusetts. In school, he most enjoys math and computer science and is a member of the school's clubs in both areas. Outside of classes, he is a member of his school's track and varsity squash teams, chess club and theater tech program. When not with his friends, he plays both board and video games, solves puzzles and works on programming projects.

Project: Shortest Path on the Surface of a Tetrahedron, Cube, Octahedron

For polyhedra, the shortest distance between two points along the surface is not an obvious formula. This demonstration calculates the shortest possible path across the surface of the selected regular polyhedron (tetrahedron, cube or octahedron). Select which polyhedron to use, and then provide two points on the surface of the polyhedron. Use sliders to specify the spherical coordinates of each point.
