Project: Stereographic Projection

To understand stereographic projection, imagine that on top of the unit sphere there is a light. Opposite this light there is a plane tangent to the sphere. Any point on the sphere will cast a shadow onto this plane. This is called the stereographic projection of the point. Now take a Platonic solid and blow up the edges till they lie on the sphere's surface. The stereographic projection of the platonic solid is the shadow these lines cast onto the plane. This Demonstration is meant to illustrate this concept and to show some of the beautiful patterns mathematical ideas can give rise to. Inspiration from http://www.dimensions-math.org/Dim_reg_E.htm.
