Project: Automated Recording of Travel Memories

As people travel more frequently, there is a growing desire to keep trips in good memory. The microsite “City & Me” is able to generate a composed image overlapping the photos of the city and the traveler’s face with certain degrees of transparency. The city name and traveler’s remarks are also added in the form of compact notations. The main purpose of the microsite is to help travelers fuse important elements of a certain trip, or its segment, into one image. To better track their trips, Wolfram users can also classify images by city names and store them in the cloud or local folders.

In keeping the artistic value of the resulting image, the function detects the faces in the photos of the traveler, trims and adjusts the photos of the city and the traveler into the same height, and feathers edges to make smooth junctions. City names and traveling remarks—such as dates, weather, moods, etc.—are made into succinct headings located in one of the corners of the image.
