Project: Disease Analyzer

There are many communities centered around different topics in social media. Posts in such kinds of communities are a huge source of real-world data. With help from this data, we can understand real attitudes regarding a variety of topics. This data can be useful for an entrepreneur interested in marketing analysis and competitor analysis. This project is based on the website VK.com, which gets more than 300 million visitors every day and has 90 million groups. A group is a community based on interests, and anyone can create his/her own group.

The goal of this project is to create a classifier for diseases based on VK communities.

My microsite provides a disease analyzer based on more than 170,000 posts from 57 communities about 36 diseases. These communities contain a free format text in Russian. We scraped the text from the group pages, divided the posts into sentences, prepared training sets, and created classifiers based on this data.
