Colt Bradley studies physics and applied mathematics at North Carolina State University. His interests lie in the field of high energy physics, and he currently does research on self-energy calculations via pion loop integrals. Colt hopes to pursue a PhD in physics after finishing his undergraduate degree. At NC State, Colt is a Wolfram Ambassador and is also a director of Triangle Youth Leadership Services, an organization that plans an annual leadership conference for high school students from around North Carolina. He enjoys language learning, traveling, cooking, and backpacking.
Project: Social Media Color and Caption Analysis
University campuses are nexuses for social media output. But what do these posts say about a university? For instance, are the prominent colors in social media photos dependent on the university? Which university posts the most positive posts?
This project aims to provide a website that calculates and displays these results in interesting formats by university. The primary source of this data will be Instagram and Twitter posts. Data will be collected using If This Then That, a unique website that allows users to collect data from various services. I will use a geographic marker to collect all of the Tweets/Instagram posts from a specific university, then download that data to a the Wolfram Data Drop.
From Data Drop, I'll be able to Import the pictures and other data into Mathematica, where I can perform the proper analysis. These calculations will then be added to the cloud and displayed in an interesting and dynamic format.
